Beautiful autumn

I spent a wonderful weekend out fishing some while ago enjoying the chilly seashore. When the temperature drops below zero something fascinating happens to the sea. The waves on the surface move slowly as if the water was thick gelly. The landscape looks calm and beautiful in the autumn sun as the frost covers the brightest colours and paints everything in suddle greyish shades. The last golden sparks before the snow covers the golden with whiteness. Have a nice time!

Dazy dark hues

Heya, Where did the time fly? Well, I guess I´ve been busy with designwork and gardening. Now the snow is slowly covering the last piles of autumnleaves, so i hope to post inspiring pics a little more often during the coming dark months. Here´s a few summerfavourites in black and lime from my garden. Especially the darkleaved "Bulls blood" beetroot was popular in our summersalads. The watermelon in our greenhouse had several fruites - small as tennisballs, but even the beautiful limecoloured leaves was a treat!

Greenhouse scent

There's something so refreshing about greenhouses. When opening the door to my greenhouse each summer morning - the scent of green makes me joyful. I've always loved to work with plants and watch them grow from tiny seeds to an amazing variety of personalities. This summer is only the second season in our 10 square-meter greenhouse. Last summer especially the cherry tomato "Gardener's delight" was a success. We so missed their sweet taste during the winter! This year our greenhouse shelters a collection of different cherry tomatoes I got as a gift, cucumbers, squash, corn and perennial flowers like pink Diviner's Sage, spotted bee balm and black sunflower. I hope to harvest tomatoes in clusters like in the picture above taken last summer.

Green meets white

This is the most wonderful time in the garden. Yes, I mean it! Everything is possible and my plans are quite irrealistic. But it doesn´t matter, because just spending time outside with all the fresh scents of spring is so precious to me. Last summer a lot of white flowers found their way into my garden. This spring I´ve been drawn to beautiful pics of almost black ones. I promise to let you know what plants I chose to grow for my flowerbeds this spring. Here´s a little inspiration from last summers white beauties.

Springtime origami

It finally seems like the spring has come and anyday this funny longlegged bird will arrive.
As an easterproject I made som cranes in origami. Fun and not difficult at all. And nice as a contrast to all the cute yellow chicks on the eastertable. Happy Easter!

Colour it is

Fantastic! My "Kierto" design for Marimekko was featured on the cover of Coté Sud magazine this month. Seems like the the longing for colour is everywhere.

Crave for colour

Suddenly, my brown shaded 50s ceramics looked tired and dark on the windowshelf. The spring light is so bright, and our meter-high piles of snow reflect every ray.
I crave for color! So here's my new set of second-hand vases that will cheer me up while I´m waiting for my garden to wake up.

Garden green nostalgia

Like so many book lovers, I've tried to read Marcel Proust's Remberance of Things Past. I get to the famous madeleine passage and then head to the cupboard - only to resume the same travail the following spring.
Sometimes I wonder if the pictures we take with ever fancier cameras are actually madeleines of sorts - tasty, tempting morsels of memory.

Basque spring

As winter's grip relaxes in Finland, my friend in Basqueland is already enjoying the first green of spring.
The "white house" is a typical Basque rural home or etxea. These houses are usually built facing east to greet the rising sun.

Welcome...

We're just so indecisive -- well, ok, inexperienced, too -- but I guess we'll go with eblogger, because Wordpress was too much a hassle...and we love happy pics
